Hey yall! I have been happily married to my sailor since 2004. We were married shortly after I graduated high school and have since had 2 children. Before I got pregnant I was fortunate enough to be able to eat anything I wanted, whenever I wanted and still had a very thin, petite body. During my first pregnancy I gained 70 pounds. This was very hard for me because not only was I a new mother but i didn't recognize the person that looked back at me in the mirror. I went through a horrible bout of ppd. Exercise and diet became my goal and for 2 years i worked my booty off until I was finally happy with my body again. I joined an all women's gym in Maryland called Transformations. And transform my body I did. I went from weighing 200 lbs. to 132 lbs. I was very happy with my body!! We then decided to add to our family and we were blessed with a very healthy baby boy. He, however, was born via c section. The recovery was so much harder on me. I was 191 when I gave birth to him. After having Austin I went through the same body images I did when I had Brett. The only difference was, this time I knew what to expect. That being said, I also knew with hard work and dedication I could get back to the fitness level that I was prior to that pregnancy. We were stationed in Hawaii with Austin was 6 months old. When we moved here I was very unhappy with myself and didn't have a whole lot of energy. A friend of mine told me about this amazing program called Dumbell Fitness. It sounded wonderful so I signed up! Wonderful it was!!!! When I first started working out with them I would feel DEAD at the end of my workouts, but I kept going. At first I signed up for the Tue/Thu class, but then wanted to bump it up a notch and signed up for the mon/wed/fri class. Seeing these awesome trainers at work and the impact they were having on other people's lives made me realize this is what I want to do in life. I want to help other people make improvements in their health and fitness. So 7 months ago I signed up through NASM to become a personal trainer. I studied my booty off!!! And I PASSED! During that time I also started running! Running became a huge stress reliever for me. At one point I couldn't run .10 of a mile with out having to stop. This past Feb. I participated in the Great Aloha Run! My first race! And I ran 90% of it. For those of you that don't know that is a 8.15 mile race! GO ME!!!! Once I ran that race I got to thinking... If I can do that then i can def train for a half marathon! And that is exactly what i am doing! I am not at my goal weight yet but I am well on my way! God has really blessed me and I am so excited about where my life is going right now. This blog is for me to share my journey in health and fitness. I hope you enjoy and I hope that it helps someone achieve their fitness goals!
